“We are pleased to again partner with Lamoille Housing Partnership for this year’s #GivingTuesday,” says Emma Marvin, one of BMF’s owners. “Our goal at Butternut Mountain Farm is to support local organizations that create and support a stable, prosperous and healthy community. Donations will support LHP’s mission and commitment to creating and preserving affordable housing for low and moderate income residents of our community,” says Marvin.
“LHP is thrilled and appreciative to renew our successful, impactful #GivingTuesday collaboration with Butternut Mountain Farm,” says LHP Public Relations & Fundraising Manager, Kerrie Lohr. She emphasizes that “the partnership is a strong way to generate meaningful impact at the local level through philanthropic support from businesses and individuals.”
Taking place on Tuesday, December 3rd following consumer holidays Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday’s goal is to “celebrate and encourage giving,” by connecting diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations worldwide. Created in 2011 by the Belfer Center for Innovation and Social Impact, the international social media hashtag campaign is facilitated on communication platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and was “founded as a simple idea: bring people together for a day of giving back.”
“Butternut Mountain Farms’ #GivingTuesday commitment amplifies the positive impact of donor support for LHP’s affordable housing work in local communities,” explains Lohr. LHP is a 501c3 affordable housing developer that creates, maintains, and rehabilitates affordable homes and apartments for low and moderate-income residents in Lamoille County and Hardwick.
“LHP’s track record of successfully supporting our communities’ housing needs is tied to fundraising,” says Lohr. Since 1991, the nonprofit’s community development projects have resulted in the creation of more than 281 affordable rental homes and apartments across the region, totaling over $50 million in local investments that include projects such as Arthur’s on Main and Lamoille View in downtown Morrisville, as well as Sylvan Woods in Stowe. In addition to fundraising, LHP’s funding sources include federal and state grants, and tax credit programs.
“At LHP, we believe success starts at home; a financial contribution to LHP contributes to the success and quality of life of local families, members of the workforce, aging and disabled Vermonters, veterans and those who have experienced homelessness.”
