Capstone Community Action

Capstone provides comprehensive services to help people achieve economic well-being with dignity and develops partnerships to strengthen Vermont communities.

Capstone provides assistance with the following:

  • Emergency food access

  • Home heating fuel

  • Emergency housing access

  • Education and development services for children

  • Home weatherization

  • Child care meals

  • Transportation

  • Financial literacy programs

  • Tax filing

  • Job skill building and training

  • Health care and health insurance literacy

 

Clarina Howard Nichols Center

Clarina Howard Nichols Center works to end domestic and sexual violence in Lamoille County.

CHNC provides the following:

  • Support and direct services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence

  • Advocacy programs

  • Emergency shelter

  • Community outreach programs to affect social change

Green Mountain Support Services provides services to empower neighbors with disabilities to be at home in the community.

Programs include:

Healthy Lamoille Valley

Healthy Lamoille Valley is a coalition of community organizations and individuals working collaboratively to make healthy choices easy for residents of all ages of Lamoille Valley.

Programs focus on prevention, treatment and recovery from:

  • Substance abuse

  • Alcohol 

  • Prescription drugs

  • Suicide

  • Tobacco

 

Home Share Now

Home Share Now matches people with room to share in their homes with those seeking affordable housing options, and secures housing for all via mutually beneficial relationships.

 

Lamoille Community Food Share

Lamoille Community Food Share is a nonprofit dedicated to providing food security for our friends and neighbors in and around Lamoille County, Vermont. 

LCFS' food pantry is located at 197 Harrel Street in Morrisville, next door to Capstone Community Action and the Community College of Vermont.  Families and individuals can come and receive basic food and other grocery items to help stretch their food dollar.

Lamoille County Family Center affirms the right of all children to grow up in an environment that enables them to become healthy adults by encouraging, educating and celebrating families. encourages, educates and celebrates families.

LCFC offers a wide variety of services and community events throughout the Lamoille Valley, such as:

Lamoille County Mental Health Services

Lamoille County Mental Health Services provides comprehensive community mental health, children, family, and person-centered development disability services. 

Programs include:

Lamoille Restorative Center

Lamoille Restorative Center is a community based agency established to support victims of crime, address unlawful behaviors, and promote health families and communities within the Lamoille Valley Region of Vermont. 

Programs include:

  • Court Diversion

  • Precharge Program

  • Pretrial Services

  • Reparative Program

  • Youth Substance Abuse Safety Program

  • Lamoille Valley Truancy Project

  • Driver's License Reinstatement Program

 

reSOURCE

reSOURCE empowers individuals and strengthens communities through job training and poverty relief programs rooted in a foundation of environmental stewardship. reSOURCE's store in Hyde Park also offers homegoods and building materials at affordable pricing.

Programs and services include:

United Way of Lamoille County 

United Way of Lamoille County advocates for the health, education and financial stability of Lamoille County families. UWLC develops programs to help lead people towards a life of self sufficiency – UWLC identifies needs of the community, and partners with local organizations and local citizens to meet the community need.

North Central Vermont Recovery Center

North Central Vermont Recovery Center is dedicated to providing an upbeat, welcoming, safe, and substance-free environment for individuals and families on their paths to lasting recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Assistance is provided to all citizens regardless of age, race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. All services offered at NCVRC are FREE OF CHARGE.

Services include:

  • Substance abuse recovery coaching

  • Opiate addiction pathway guide

  • GYST program for young adults 

  • Support for families and loved ones of individuals struggling with addiction

Supportive Services for Veteran Families

Supportive Services for Veteran Families prevents homelessness by helping qualifying veterans and their families gain access to the resources they need in order to successfully transition to or maintain permanent housing.

In addition to this, SSVF connects veterans and families with other community resources including:

  • Health care services

  • Personal financial planning services

  • Transportation services

  • Employment services

  • Income support services

  • Legal services

  • Child care

  • Daily living services
