Morrisville, VT, June 3 2020. Lamoille Housing Partnership (LHP) is pleased to announce the addition of Jennifer Degree to the nonprofit affordable housing developer’s Board of Trustees.
“I’m excited to start this new journey,” says Degree. “I feel that LHP’s mission in action and their work is vital for our community.”
For almost three decades, LHP has been the area’s affordable housing developer. The 501c3 nonprofit works to solve Lamoille County and Hardwick’s housing affordability problem, and reduce barriers to housing by creating and maintaining long term, affordable rental housing. Currently, more than 440 income eligible individuals and families reside in LHP’s affordable apartments that include projects such as the Arthur’s on Main in Morrisville, School Street Apartments in Johnson, and Sylvan Woods in Stowe.
“I’m looking forward to serving my community by helping LHP continue to be able to keep up their good work of providing much needed affordable housing to local residents,” says Degree. A lifelong Lamoille County resident, Degree began her career with Union Bank in 2001 where she is now Vice President and Electronic Banking Manager in Morrisville. Degree resides in Eden with her husband, son, and daughter.
“We are pleased that Jennifer has joined the LHP Board of Trustees,” says LHP Board of Trustees President, David Ford. “Her desire to serve on the Board speaks clearly about her caring attitude for people in need of clean, decent affordable housing in the Lamoille valley.”
Ford acknowledges that Degree’s nearly two decade career with Union Bank “gives her valuable insight into the needs of lower income and vulnerable populations in our local communities.”
LHP’s mission in action creates housing opportunities for and supports the housing needs of lower and moderate income area residents, including families, aging and disabled Vermonters, members of the workforce, veterans, and people who have experienced homelessness.
“Union Bank has been a strong community partner of LHP, and we’ve been fortunate to have many talented, dedicated board members who also happen to be part of the Union Bank team,” says LHP Executive Director, Jim Lovinsky. “Union Banks’ company culture clearly demonstrates their commitment to the community in many ways.”
Degree’s addition fills the seat held by Robyn Masi, who served as Treasurer for LHP’s Board of Trustees. She joins Ford, as well as Davis Koier of Morrisville, Stefani Eichler of Morrisville, Tess Milner of Johnson, Cheryl Fuller of Johnson, Graham Mink of Stowe, Brian Story of Johnson, and a Lamoille Community House representative as members of LHP’s Board of Trustees.
There are no requirements or qualifications to serve on LHP’s Board of Trustees, except a desire to help LHP achieve its mission of solving the region’s housing crisis, creating inclusive communities, and supporting local economic vibrancy through affordable housing development. The term of office is two years.
